Taxco

Taxco was officially designated a Pueblo Mágico on July 20, 2002.

This destination offers a wide variety of tourist attractions. Among its natural attractions are the Cacahuamilpa Caves and the Blue Pools of Atzala. Its cultural attractions include the Parish Church of Santa Prisca, the Monumental Christ, the Pre-Hispanic Mine, the Juan O’Gorman Mural at Hotel Posada de la Misión, Casa Borda (House of Culture), the Museum of Viceregal Art, and the William Spratling Museum.

Its gastronomy is known for traditional dishes such as pink mole, goat barbacoa, jumil salsa, Guerrero-style pozole, and corn tamales served with sour cream, cheese, and green salsa.

Its most famous festivities include:

• Feast of Santa Prisca, the town’s patron saint – January 17.
• Holy Week and Easter celebrations.
