Tuxtla

Tuxtla-Gutierrez is the capital city of the state of Chiapas. The city has a unique combination of natural splendor and deeply rooted Zoque cultural traditions with the context of a modern urban center. Tuxtla is very well equipped for meetings tourism, offering participants a unique setting to host meetings and cultural events.

There are two museums located here: The Chiapas Science and Technology Museum which has 21,500 square feet of exhibition space dedicated to how science and technology explain and transform the world. The second one is the Regional Museum of Chiapas, which contains one of Mexico’s best archaeological collections and houses outstanding displays of Chiapas’ cultural history.

Near Chiapas lies the colonial town of Chiapa de Corzo which is also rich in history and has unique architecture. The town´s history goes back over 3,000 years, offering a blend of Hispano-Arabic and colonial architecture. Visitors may experience this city’s cultural heritage by visiting its ruins, monastery and archaeological site.

The Chiapas Convention Center and Polyforum is the city´s largest venue. It can hold up to 3,875 individuals in an auditorium-style setup. This venue was built in 1993 and has a surface area of 11,840 square feet of events space divides in 8 halls.

Other convenient event spaces include The Emilio Rabasa City Theatre, the Chiapas Museum of Science and Technology, the Jaime Sabines Cultural Center, the Zoque Stadium and the Chiapas Racetrack. The Camino Real Hotel is also an ideal location for hosting different types of events and meetings. On top of its 174 rooms, it has 18 distinct events and meeting spaces, with a combined surface area of 29,784 square feet.

The Angel Albino Corzo International Airport (TGZ) is located in Chiapa de Corzo, 11 miles from Tuxla-Gutierrez. The airport has direct flights from Houston, Monterrey, Guadalajara, Mexico City and Tapachula. The city is also accessible by car or bus via Mexico’s well-maintained highway system. The OCC and AEXA bus terminals are located in town.
