Casa del Cocodrilo “Wotoch Aayín”
Casa del Cocodrilo “Wotoch Aayín” offers visitors the change to experience a species that perhaps you never imagined. One of the best guided activities on the Isla Arena, the tour covers three stages:
Stage 1: Meet the Moretti crocodile hatchlings and learn about the important role crocodiles play in their ecosystem. Get to know the mangrove, and in turn you will get to know its relationship with the Maya cosmovision. You can also meet the main pair of breeding crocodiles, visit their nests and then you can meet the other adult crocodiles.
Stage 2: The next part of the tour leads you down a path through the mangrove tunnel. Here, visitors learn about the varieties of mangrove and the importance of each one to the overall environment. This part of the tour ends with the incredible views of the Isla Arena estuary. You can also take in the area plant life from a kayak ride through the coastal lagoon.
Stage 3: Finally, guest return to the original trail and the area of younger crocodiles where they are separated by age and size. Meet one of the youngest and learn about how they are all kept safe and growing.
This tour ends at the restaurant where participants can enjoy food and drinks.
