Isla Arena Flamingos Experience
Discover the natural richness of the Isla Arena flamingos population. Start off with a tour through the canals and off to the mangrove tunnel. From there, you get first hand contact with nature and all within the Ria Celestun Biosphere Reserve. Pink flamingos, shorebirds, and tarpon are in their natural habitat, and you get to learn about mangrove reforestation and more. By the end of the tour, you can the salt ponds of the old haciendas, Real de Salinas and Hacienda Herradura. Learn about the old salt industry here and meet dolphins and pink flamingos along the way.
The tour visits the mangroves in a small boat with a complete trip through the mangrove tunnels and the wetlands. Wildlife is everywhere but there is also a small lagoon for swimming. The end of the tour includes a trip back to the Carey Cabañas dock for locally prepared food and drink and sunset from the canoe never looked better than with an organic coffee and an experience worth writing home about.
