La Taspana
The Fiesta de La Taspana is a tradition of the community of San Javier, municipality of San Ignacio, which dates back to 1862, and began as a commitment to the common good among its early settlers. Today, it is its most important festival, lasts three days, and reaches its climax on the third Sunday of October.
The story goes that the Bolado family and Mr. Vicente Zazueta agreed to clear the weeds that grew in the town's streets and alleys during the rainy season. To make the task enjoyable, they would be accompanied by a regionalbanda.
The tradition has been passed down from parents to children for generations. The whole of San Javier participates: the mentaspanando, and the women cheering them on to the sound of thebandamusic; anyone who does not participate is "fined" with money, tequila, or food for those who do join the task, and in the end, the besttaspanadoris chosen.
One of the traditions of the towns of Sinaloa that you should not miss experiencing during your visit to the State.
