7th Day of the Dead Festival – “Experience it in Guanajuato!
The “Experience it in Guanajuato!” Festival also creates a direct social and economic impact by employing 600 people directly and 1,200 indirectly, establishing Guanajuato as a vibrant, welcoming city proud of its heritage.
The iconic Subterránea Street, once again transformed into the Tunnel of Tradition, will be the epicenter of this rich sensory, artistic, and cultural experience. It will feature Xempa Circo Dragón, mojigangas (giant puppets), monumental skulls, an interactive altar, video mapping, live musical, artisanal, and artistic performances, as well as a monumental altar in honor of José Alfredo Jiménez, in collaboration with Dolores Hidalgo.
The festival will also include the Procession of the Little Angels, the Parade of Skulls and Catrinas, the Carpet of Death, and the immersive show Return to Mictlán — a celebration of the Mexican worldview and the unique “Guanajuato-style death” as a symbol of reunion, color, and life.
The day of the Dead Festival not only preserves our trditions it reinvents them with art, color, and emotion. Here, death becomes life, and memory becomes a sensory experience that unites the soul of Mexico with the world.”
