In the cultural heart of Jalisco, one of Latin America’s most important film celebrations will take place: the 40th edition of the Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG). From June 6 to 14, 2025, Guadalajara will once again host this celebration of the filmmaking art, featuring Portugal as this year\\\\\\\'s guest country of honor.
What is the FICG?
The Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG) is the most established cinematic event in Latin America and the oldest in Mexico. Since its beginnings, it has served as a key platform for the dissemination, promotion, and distribution of Mexican and Ibero-American cinema. It also functions as a space for training and creative exchange among industry professionals, students, critics, and the general public.
Over nine days, FICG transforms Guadalajara into an international stage for cinema as an art form, industry, and medium of cultural expression. With a diverse program of screenings, galas, award ceremonies, academic and industry activities, the festival invites the active participation of all audiences—from cinephiles to emerging filmmakers.
Portugal: Guest Country at FICG 2025
The 40th edition of the festival pays tribute to Portuguese cinema with a special showcase of both heritage and contemporary works. This curated selection highlights films known for their aesthetic richness, narrative depth, and sensitive portrayal of the human condition.
