Malpaso Dam Wall
Between stone and landscape, the Malpaso dam wall is a perfect place to explore, relax, and connect with nature.
Malpaso Dam is located in the municipality of Calvillo, in the state of Aguascalientes, Mexico. It is an important hydraulic structure primarily used to store water for agricultural irrigation. Thanks to this dam, many hectares of farmland in the region receive the necessary water to produce fruits such as guava, which is characteristic of Calvillo.
Its dam wall, built with stone masonry, stands nearly 30 meters high and forms a large-capacity reservoir. This structure holds back water flowing from the Sierra del Laurel and distributes it in a controlled manner to the crop fields through channels and pipelines.
In addition to its agricultural function, the dam is also a natural and tourist attraction. It is surrounded by mountains, vegetation, and trails, making it an ideal place for activities such as hiking, mountain biking, fishing, and camping. During the rainy season, the water can overflow the dam wall and create waterfalls, producing a spectacular visual display much appreciated by visitors.
