Estadio Guadalajara: The Heart of Jalisco Football

Guadalajara Stadium (Akron Stadium)

Rising proudly in the state of Jalisco, the Estadio Guadalajara is more than a sports venue — it’s a masterpiece of architecture, emotion, and Mexican identity. Designed by Jean Marie Massaud and Daniel Pouzet of Studio Massaud Pouzet, this iconic stadium takes the shape of a volcano — a living symbol of energy, passion, and constant eruption of football spirit.

With its structure partially merging into the natural landscape, the stadium feels like it was born from the very earth of Guadalajara. Built by HOK México, the design features five levels, two of which lie below ground level, preserving its harmonious proportions with the surrounding environment. Its natural grass berm, covering more than 21,000 square meters, acts as a sustainable roof that regulates temperature and lets in natural light — creating a comfortable and eco-friendly interior.

Inside, the experience is just as impressive. The stadium seats 46,355 fans, offering state-of-the-art acoustics powered by 180 digital audio boxes that fill every corner with energy. The main entrance, 80 meters wide, welcomes visitors with cutting-edge technology designed for a safe and fluid flow, while eight emergency exits ensure quick evacuation if ever needed.

Accessibility is at the heart of its design: 208 designated seats for people with disabilities, along with ramps, elevators, and exclusive restrooms, make the experience inclusive for everyone. Sustainability also plays a starring role — its restrooms use waterless urinals and low-consumption toilets, saving tons of water and reducing CO₂ emissions each year.

Beyond the field, the atrium spans over 21,000 square meters, offering panoramic views of the pitch, with restaurants, shops, and open areas where excitement fills the air before every match. Parking is never a problem, with more than 5,000 illuminated spaces, including underground sections for premium guests.

The stadium’s grass — a specially engineered variety adapted to Guadalajara’s climate — ensures top-level performance for every game. It’s not just a field; it’s a living canvas where the stories of Mexican football are written.

Whether you come to witness a match, a concert, or simply to marvel at its design, the Estadio Guadalajara stands as a true symbol of modern Mexico — bold, sustainable, and alive with passion.
