Corazón del Bosque Waterfall
A remarkable cloud-forest waterfall at the center of a great bamboo forest, it's some of the most intriguing and inviting landscape in Cuetzalan, Puebla.
The Corazón del Bosque Waterfall is a natural cascade some 15 minutes to the south of the very center of Cuetzalan. One of the most popular day trips from the little town far in the north of Puebla, people come for the lively environment centered around the spectacular falls. It's one of the area's best known swimming spots, but it's also a remarkably untouched and naturally resplendent areas. The Chichicazapan falls and the Cloudforest Amphibian Sanctuary are all within a few minutes of the same spot to the south of the town center. It's some of Cuetzalan's most intriguing and inviting country.
The countryside is distinguished by the cascades, their towering moss-covered rocks and cliff faces. The surrounding forests and open spaces are also home to a number of cabin rentals, and some people will come to stay a few days. Coming into the park, visitors take the enchanted walkway through an incredible bamboo forest. While it is definitely a place for a re-connection with nature, it's also surprisingly pristine. Visitors get a firsthand view of Cuetzalan's magnificent biodiversity made all the more dramatic by the wandering cloud forest mists and vapors.
The vast majority of visitors are going to arrive from the town of Cuetzalan itself, but some visitors will also get here from the area's other even smaller towns. Zozocalo in the neighboring state of Veracruz is only about 90 minutes away and the drive is notably fantastic from every window of the car. It's also very much a family destination so do bring the kids if you're lucky enough to have a bunch in your travel party. The truly adventurous will be taking the bus from the Cuetzalan Hospital General. The bus line marked Acaxiloco – La Chaca takes you to the very entrance called "La Chaca" and the walk from there is just a few minutes.
