Vitromurals
The monumentally scaled and brilliantly colorful glass mosaic masterpiece of Zacatlán de las Manzanas, stretching magnificently along the cemetery walls where millions of vibrant glass and ceramic shards form intricate, shining murals that chronicle the town's history, pre-Hispanic creation myths, and local identity wrapped in mist.
VitromuralsThe Vitromurals are one of Zacatlán’s most iconic artistic expressions. Stretching across approximately 96 meters, these mosaics narrate the city’s history, identity, and cultural richness through colorful fragments of glass and ceramic. Each section of the mural is a window into the past and into the spirit of this region of Puebla. One highlight is the piece titled “The Nahuatl Universe,” a tribute to pre-Hispanic roots that depicts powerful deities such as Quetzalcóatl, Tonatiuh, Huitzilopochtli, and Tláloc, also integrating the symbolism of the 13 heavens and the 9 underworlds. This mural invites reflection, wonder, and pride in Mexico’s ancestral legacy.
