Villanueva, a town in Zacatecas incorporated into the Pueblos Mágicos program on June 26, 2023, boasts a wide variety of attractions. Among them are the La Quemada Archaeological Zone, Hacienda La Encarnación, El Salitre Thermal Waters Water Park, the Antonio Aguilar Musical Tour Route, Rancho El Soyate, the Sanctuary of Saint Jude Thaddeus, and the Temple of La Merced.

The artisans of Villanueva excel in creating sarapes, handmade crafts, wood and cantera stone carving, as well as saddles and charro items made from linen leather. Its gastronomy highlights chorizo sandwiches, condoches de frijoles (a type of wheat gordita), pumpkin sweets, white atole, gorditas made from curd, wheat, and cracked corn, as well as regional tomatoes and traditional bread.

The town’s most important festivities include the Regional Fair, held on October 28, and the Patron Saint Festivities in honor of Saint Jude Thaddeus, from October 20 to 28, featuring dances, processions, kermeses, charreadas, rodeos, bull-riding events, horse races, cockfighting tournaments, amusement rides, fireworks, and bullfights. Additionally, the “Antonio Aguilar” Corrido Festival is celebrated, paying tribute to the life and work of the famous Zacatecan artist.
