A natural area of lake, forest, peace, and fulfillment.

Presa de la Amistad

La Presa de la Amistad is one of the most emblematic tourist destinations in northern Mexico. A giant bi-national work it was completed and opened in 1969 as a joint project of the United States and Mexico. The objective was to regulate the flow of water on the Rio Bravo, and to promote agricultural irrigation.

The Friendship Dam today backs a lake of some 6,000 hectares of surface. The freshwater body ideal for sport fishing, boat rides, kayaking, water skiing, and swimming. The lake biodiversity includes species such as catfish, large mouth bass and carp, all of them especially attractive for fishing enthusiasts.

The natural environment is surrounded by mountains, desert, and unique landscapes. Visitors go camping, take in the spectacular sunsets, or relax in the quiet and safe environment. Nearby you can also find tourist infrastructure that includes rest areas, cabins, restaurants, and recreational areas.

Presa de la Amistad is not only an attraction for ecotourism and adventure, it's a symbol of camaraderie and international cooperation. For those seeking to discover the natural wealth of Coahuila, the area is alive with opportunities.
