Badiraguato

Remarkable and mountainous Badiraguato is a gateway to the high mountains of Sinaloa and the Sierra Madre Occidental.

Badiraguato

Badiraguato is a rugged eco-tourism and adventure center high in the Sierra Madre Occidental. In northeastern Sinaloa, the town is surprisingly accessible and known for stunning natural beauty and cultural heritage. The name is a hybridization of the Cahita - Purépecha words meaning stream of many hills or perhaps hill of many streams. However you interpret it, the name has come to represent a community that unites both religious and heritage travel with a remarkable landscape and a seemingly endless list of things to do.

The town is situated in a mountainous region of canyons, crystalline rivers, and lush temperate forests. The Badiraguato river runs famously right through town. People come for the hiking and end up staying for the smooth way Sinaloa mixes culture, services, and a sense of hospitality. A monument to St. Jude Thaddeus, one of the biggest in the world, stands atop the Badiraguato overlook. Panoramic views are heartbreaking. But a trip back greets you with upscale cabin lodging, and some of the best places to stay in Mexico.

Badiraguato is for seasoned travelers, and especially those with a penchant for natural settings and the great outdoors. People arrive via the state capital at Culiacán, a bit more than an hour to the south.
