Las Estacas
One of the best loved of the many water parks in and all around Tlaltizapán, this one may be the most complete and fantasy-filled of them all.
Las Estacas is one of the best-known water parks in Tlaltizapán, a community nearly synonymous with its water-related recreation areas and parks. The community is in Morelos and home to a number of natural springs, rivers, watering holes, and swimming areas. The Borbollón, most famously, is the source of a river said to be well over 10,000 years old. Nearly one full kilometer of the young river is crystal clear and a favorite for swimmers, waders, bathers, and those who just want to cool off.
The Las Estacas park is a favorite because it offers everything from kayaking, to zip-lining, spa services, swimming pools, and games associated with wee visitors. It's a great place for kids. There are areas for cooking out, sleeping in, glamping (if you like), plus even a pet-friendly hotel. There are facilities for diving certification and classes for training. And it ends up being a full service experience for visitors from afar, and a resource for visitors from the local area.
The place is also famosu for the natural landscapes and gardens. You'll find lotus flowers, palm trees, amate trees, and even wildlife. White-tailed deer, iguanas, and hummingbirds, are just some of the better known creatures to often visit. Las Estacas is frequently a full weekend getaway with on site food and lodging options. Lots of visitors will stay here while exploring some of the other areas and sites within the little town.
People get to Tlaltizapán via Jojutla, which is the nearest stop on the Pullman de Morelos bus line. A taxi from there will take about half an hour. Buses from Cuernavaca run more regularly but will let you off in Xoxocotla. A taxi from there is a little quicker at about 20 minutes. The trip from Mexico City takes just about 90 minutes, and there are a variety of transportation services available from the station at Tasqueña.
