Just south of Mexico City, Morelos packs more punch than states many times larger. It's a tiny state but one of ancient cultures, staggering landscapes, and nearly perfect weather year round. As a weekend getaway, the reputation is probably a little under-rated. In a lifetime of weekends, one would only begin to explore the many small towns, magical corners, and vibrantly varied landscapes of Morelos. More than Cuernavaca, the state capital, it's a constellation of equally splendid places, and all of them still just minutes from Mexico City.​
