Itinerary Rutas del Aficionado 2026: Ruta del corazón de Veracruz

Mountainous Coffee Country: Orizaba and Córdoba

Some of the most prized and priceless little towns of the High Mountains in Veracruz, this is a trip never to be forgotten!

Day 1: Orizaba

Orizaba is a fascinating, rugged mountain streets and layered cultures and interpretations. After breakfast, we'll head to the local Municipal Palace, originally built in Belgium and reassembled here. It's a honeycomb of little museums, six in all, and all kinds of information for visitors. We'll take off from there for a quick tour of the cathedral and the Parque Castillo. From there, it's up, up, and up, in the cable car to the Cerro del Borrego and the best overlooks of the entire town.

After lunch, we'll make a stop at the Poliforum, and you get some free time for exploring and processing everything we saw.

Day 2: Orizaba Part Two

After breakfast we're going back to the fantastic Palacio de Hierro. You can see the whole place and parts of the jagged river that runs through town and adds so much to its character and atmosphere. The museum of art is a must see, but you've got to be on the tour to really get the most out of it.

With some free time for exploring, there's also a trip to the Casa Vegas and a tour of the area's fantastic dinosaurs, the famous dragon's nest, and a visit to Ojo de Agua just prior to lunch. That was already a full day, but there's more.

In the early evening, there's a special Callejoneada, just outside the hotel lobby. You can get answers to any questions in an informal Q&A and discussion period, and still have time for a night cap.

Day 3: Córdoba

Just across the way, we'll head off for the City of the 30 KnightsCórdoba is a twin city to Orizaba and the Mexican capital of the coffee industry. People also drank coffee here a good century before they did anywhere else. Being so close it's got a lot in common with Orizaba, but it's still it's own thing. We'll tour the coffee museum and a plantation where it is still grown in great and robust splendor!

There's food too. With that, we'll also stop by the Toxpan Hacienda and spend as much time as you'd like exploring, learning, and just enjoying. It's a beautiful place. And you'll still be back in Orizaba with time to hit your favorite spots or have a night out on the town.

Day 4: Bon Voyage

We'll be returning to the Veracruz airport after breakfast. There's time for some last minute jaunts but you'll want time on the bus to recount your favorite moments and everything you learned, and for that, we've come well prepared.
