Traditional Sweets Workshop
In an old house in downtown Tlaquepaque, there is a workshop where you can learn how some of Mexico’s most delicious and representative sweets are made, such as cajeta, marzipan, coconut candy (cocada), macadamia nut eggnog, and artisanal chocolate. This workshop is run by the store Nuestros Dulces, which has several branches in Tlaquepaque and offers one of the widest varieties of traditional sweets.

Traditional Ice Cream (Nieve de Garrafa)
To continue your afternoon, refresh yourself with delicious traditional ice cream called nieve de garrafa. You can find all kinds of flavors, from jericalla, corn, chongos, tequila, yellow plum, tamarind, pistachio, passion fruit, and more. If you still want a little snack, head to Jardín Hidalgo, where on weekends several street stalls sell tostadas, gelatin with eggnog, guasanas (green peas), salchipulpos (octopus-shaped sausages), fries, corn, and more.

Cazuelas at El Parián
El Parián is a historic building dating back to 1878, originally a market that later became home to the town’s first cantinas (bars). Today, around its kiosk you’ll find various restaurants, and on most days, mariachi performances.
In 1941, this place was the setting for the filming of the movie Ay Jalisco no te rajes, starring Jorge Negrete.
Visit the iconic place called El Parián in Tlaquepaque and order one of the traditional cazuelas, a drink made with slices of orange, grapefruit, lime, lemon, grapefruit soda, and a shot of tequila, served in a clay bowl.
