Tajín and Papantla Tour
Considered one of the most beautiful archaeological sites in the state, El Tajín is a must-see during your visit to Veracruz. This Totonac city is home to the Pyramid of the Niches, a structure designated as a World Heritage Site that will amaze you with its beauty. Afterward, you’ll have the chance to watch the Dance of the Papantla Flyers and visit the local museum to learn about the daily life of the Totonacs. Continuing on the tour, we’ll visit Papantla, one of Veracruz’s “Magical Towns.”
The tour begins with picking up passengers at hotels in Veracruz. During the drive to the legendary city of El Tajín, you’ll be able to admire the region’s natural landscapes while enjoying a comfortable ride in an air-conditioned coach with reclining seats.
Our first stop will be at the El Tajín Site Museum, where you’ll receive a fascinating introduction to the history and splendor of this ancient Totonac city. Here, you’ll view archaeological artifacts and learn about the overall layout of the ceremonial complex before entering the archaeological site.
Next, we’ll begin the guided tour of El Tajín, the most important ceremonial center of the Totonac culture. You’ll walk among temples, palaces, and the ancient ball courts while discovering the secrets of the majestic Pyramid of the Niches—a symbol of knowledge and spirituality—with its 365 niches representing the solar calendar. All of this will be accompanied by an expert local guide who will lead you through the historical legacy of this marvelous pre-Hispanic city.
After the tour, you’ll have time to enjoy the local cuisine at the restaurants located across from the archaeological site, where you can savor the region’s traditional dishes (food and drinks not included).
We’ll continue on to the charming “Pueblo Mágico” (Magical Town) of Papantla, famous for its cultural heritage and for being the birthplace of the Voladores. We’ll stroll through its Historic Center, admiring the colorful mural of the Voladores, the parish church, and the lively streets. You’ll also have the opportunity to purchase souvenirs and products made with vanilla, the area’s most iconic ingredient.
Finally, we’ll head back to Veracruz, enjoying a leisurely drive that will bring this unforgettable experience—filled with history, culture, and tradition—to a close.
