Connectivity

Connectivity in Mexico: Always Close, Wherever You Are

Staying connected in Mexico is easy, accessible, and convenient. Whether you want to share your experience in real time, find your way with GPS, or simply make a video call home, the country offers a solid digital infrastructure for tourists and visitors.

Mobile and Data Coverage

  • Most cities, tourist towns, and urban areas have excellent mobile phone and internet coverage.
  • Companies such as Telcel, AT&T, and Movistar offer nationwide coverage, including popular destinations like Mexico City, Cancún, Los Cabos, Oaxaca, Mérida, and more.
  • In rural or remote areas, signal strength may be limited, so planning ahead is recommended if traveling to remote locations.

Wi-Fi Available in Many Locations

  • Hotels, cafes, restaurants, airports, public squares, and shopping centers offer free or low-power Wi-Fi.
  • Many mid- and high-end hotels include free Wi-Fi in rooms and common areas.
  • Some cities have free Wi-Fi in public spaces, such as parks or historic centers.

International Roaming

  • If you\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'re coming from abroad, you can use your own cell phone plan with roaming enabled, but keep in mind that it may incur high costs.
  • Check with your carrier to see if they offer special packages for Mexico or agreements with local companies.
  • Alternatively, you can purchase a prepaid Mexican SIM card or chip (very cheap and easy to obtain), with unlimited or daily data plans. You just need your phone to be unlocked.
