Gay Holiday: Acapulco
Acapulco boasts a long, long history of inclusion and diversity. Get in on it.
Acapulco is known world-wide for fun in the sun, and for its laid back style and attitude. A family fun destination, the families showing up on this part of the Pacific coast come in all shapes and sizes today. For members of the LGBT+ community, Acapulco is an important spot on the world tourism map. Acapulco was long famous for all kinds of romantic undertones, and for welcoming people looking for the love of their lives. With the acceptance of gay marriage in the state of Guerrero, the town has really only gotten that much more accepting. The list of gay and gay-friendly hotels has gotten longer as more and more married couples have shown up. And that means the whole family will often come along too. And every year, Carnival and Pride are that much more lively. Acapulco is a city, too. But that need not mean you get only a party town (although for some it still is). Acapulco has long had an urban cool vibe about other peoples business. That means, like in so much of Mexico, there remains a place for everybody. For lesbians, and gay men, and anyone shut out from dominant gender identities, Acapulco is a welcome relief. There are dozens of gay-friendly lodgings, plus a variety of restaurants, night-spots, and more formal organizational events. Acapulco is also a very friendly place, and that counts, perhaps as much as anything. Photos courtesy of https://www.facebook.com/AcapulcoPrideFest
