Best Veracruz Beaches: 2025

Veracruz beaches aren\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'t any older than those on the Pacific or Caribbean coasts. But they were some of the first to emerge into the historical memory. Veracruz had something of a coastal beach culture even in the 19th century. But the attention span of even well-meaning revelers is short. These are the most highly regarded beaches on the ancient green coast of Veracruz, according to the people who keep going back. (1.)Playa de Chachalacas is the overwhelming favorite and not just because the name is fun to say. Nearly midway between Xalapa and the Port of Veracruz, it\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s famous for the dunes as well as for the beachy community that lives here year round. (2.)From Tuxpan to Tecolutla is a very long stretch of coast of mostly uniform golden sand beaches. These are popular with Mexico City visitors because the Poza Rica highway basically arrives directly here. The coast is so long that you can nearly always find a stretch that is absolutely serene. If it\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s too quiet, you can bring along as many friends as you like. Just a bit further south is the celebrated (3.)Costa Esmeralda. The community here has survived on beach vacationers for generations, but it\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s still friendly and affordable. And the emerald sea makes it always memorable. If you\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'re in the city (Veracruz) already, the go-to favorite is still the (4.)Playa Mocambo. The views are the best and the blue sea is usually tranquil. (5.)Playa Escondido at the Punta Roca Partido is a rustic tiny beach in a sheltered emerald green inlet. It get\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s full-up on weekends. But forlorn on weekdays, there sometimes aren\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'t any services at all. Pack everything you\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'ll need or get there early for a palapa on weekends. (6.)The Playas at Alvarado feel sometimes like they saw their glory days in the 1930s. But recent community efforts have seen real progress. A shipwrech up the coast has drawn all kinds of visitors, and at long last, the beach lovers are returning too. (7.) San Andres Tuxlta and Playa Hermosa are way off the beaten path. Hardy explorer types will appreciate the relatively rough seas, and the feel of the sea in the air. Beaches are clean, and natural, although connectivity is spotty. For the adventurous, that can be just what you needed.
