Magnificent 16th-century Monasteries
They\\\'re recognized as UNESCO World Heritage Sites, no fewer than 11 of them guard the history of the very mountains where they stand.
Majestic due to the prevailing verticality throughout the complex, it consists of a clearly defined atrium, corner chapels (capillas posas), and a two-level cloister.
The façade features a beautiful bell gable and a bell tower as tall as the temple itself, built in the 16th century. At the center, there is a clock from the Porfirian era, unrelated to the original architecture. The open chapel to the north has three naves and maintains perfect harmony with the entire architectural ensemble.
The mural painting includes a notable fresco depicting the genealogical tree of the Augustinians. The baptismal font is carved from a single block of stone, and in general, a large number of pieces in the convent are original from the 16th century.
