Summer in Manzanillo: Sun, Sea, and the Flavor of the Pacific

Summers in Manzanillo invite you to dive into its waters through experiences that intertwine nature, sport, and tradition.

One unmissable route is the boat tour to Peña Blanca, where the sea leads to rock formations that seem sculpted by time. Upon arrival, visitors pass through the Arco de Marco, a natural arch in the middle of the ocean that offers a privileged view of the horizon. A bit further along, the Virgin of the Fishermen serenely watches over those venturing into the sea. The tour culminates at the Carrizales reef, an ideal spot for snorkeling among colorful fish and coral gardens.

The Historic Center of Manzanillo is the cultural and symbolic heart of the old port and today\\\'s exciting beach destination. Manzanillo is justly famous for the Moorish architecture and as a sport fishing destination. But it\\\'s all centered around a charming and very historic old port city.

Long before people came for the sun and surf, they\\\'d come to board boats or to gather the bounty of the sea. Many of the ships that later invaded the Philippines were built here. Today the greater city is home to some 110,000 permanent residents. It\\\'s a tourist town, but more than that, it\\\'s a treasured favorite for people escaping from the more notorious coastal towns up and down the coast.

Today, people arrive in the historic center for cobblestone streets and the mix of colonial and modern architecture. Manzanillo has an entirely different vibe. In part, this is because the city is built over an unforgiving coastal landscape. The result is a series of places called Manzanillo and each offers something entirely different.

The Plaza Juárez, with the iconic bandstand, is a favorite gathering place for locals and visitors. Just steps away stretches the boardwalk with spectacular views of the bay and the constant movement of cargo ships. The Paseo del Espíritu Santo and colorful street murals tell the story of the unique identity of Manzanillo. The area is also home to cozy cafés, seafood restaurants, and lots of artisan shops. It also hosts cultural events and festivals that showcase the rich traditions of Colima.
