Sacalum to Mucuyché Bike Tour
One of the best-loved Yucatan bike tours takes you from one little town to another on a zig-zagging bike trail, with lots of striking little cenotes along the way.
The rare and inviting opportunity to really explore Yucatán. Your two wheels get you through a mountain bike tour that starts in Sacalum and follows an old truck route that used to serve the haciendas. Today the region is better known for citrus fruits and, in season, you'll see lots of that.
Along the way, riders pass low deciduous forest but this breaks out for the important old henequén plantation at San Antonio Dzodzil. The cornfields and citrus groves go on forever, but there's a good chance to take a break in Yunkú for snacks or even lunch.
The San Marcos communal cenote is magnificent, and bikers tend to want to spend a little time there. Across the way is the Sabakha cenote, said to be one of the deepest in the entire state. You can jump in here, too, if you dare. At the end of the day, the entire route arrives to Mucuyché, for a real Yucatec meal served with all the trimmings.
The certified tour guides, Rafa and Lalo, will arrange transportation as necessary and includes bikes and gear. You'll want to review everything included at the time of booking, but this is among the best rated bike tours in the area.
