Municipal Palace (Palacio Municipal)
Standing proudly in the main square, the Municipal Palace of Xicotepec is not only the center of government but also a witness to the townâs evolution through time. Its origins date back to March 14, 1861, when Xicotepec was officially declared a municipality by state decree.
Before that date, the area was just a locality within another jurisdiction, but from that moment, Xicotepec began to shape its own identity, marked by progress, resilience, and civic pride.
Architecturally, the building combines neoclassical influences with the simplicity typical of the regionâs mountain towns. Its arched corridors, balconies, and interior murals narrate the history of the municipality and the efforts of its people.
Today, beyond its administrative function, the Municipal Palace serves as a gathering place for cultural events, civic ceremonies, and community celebrations. It stands as a symbol of order, history, and the collective spirit of Xicotepecâs inhabitants.
