Comala was the seat of important indigenous communities; the oldest settlers in the territory settled there more than 3,000 years ago. Important cultures such as the Olmec, Nahuatl, Toltec, and Chichimec flourished in the area.

The municipality of Comala joined the Pueblos Mágicos program in 2002.

Comala, known as the "White Town of America" ​​and famous for Juan Rulfo\'s novel "Pedro Páramo," although they share the same name, the Pueblo Mágico stands out for its architectural beauty. The origin of its name comes from the Nahuatl word meaning "Place where they make comales."

This town boasts a wide variety of attractions, such as the Comala Main Garden, the Suchitlán Ravine, the Laguna La María Tourist Center, the Nogueras Museum, and the Portales del Centro Histórico de Comala.

Its cuisine is characterized by the following dishes: tatemado (a traditional Mexican dish), ash tamales, sweet mole, and pomegranate punch.

You can find handicrafts such as cross-stitch embroidery, ceramics, and Rangelian art.
