Mocorito is a picturesque municipality in Sinaloa, known for its rich history, traditions, and a vibrant, magical atmosphere. Mocorito, meaning “place where the Mayo Indians live” or “place of the dead,” was incorporated into the Pueblos Mágicos program on September 25, 2015. It is known for its lively spirit and charm, offering a variety of activities such as Sinaloan bands, the Sunflower Field, horse races, the Dr. José Ley Domínguez Cultural Center, Chilorio Express, Napo Factory, Guamúchil, the House of a Thousand Paintings, the Regional History Museum, the Mocorito River, Alameda Park, Reforma Cemetery, the Plaza of the Three Greats, Miguel Hidalgo Square, the Municipal Palace, the Pilgrims’ Portal, San Benito, the Temple of the Immaculate Conception, Ulama, the Friday Market (tianguis), and the La Estancia archaeological zone.

Mocorito is famous for its traditional products, being the "cradle of Chilorio," a traditional pork dish declared a Municipal Heritage in 2013. Other notable foods include machaca, chorizo, jamoncillos (milk fudge), coricos, coyotas (stuffed pastries), pan de mujer (a type of sweet bread), suspiros, mestizas, empanadas, and peanut-based sweets such as pepitorias and candied peanuts (garapiñados), among other sweets and honey.

Its crafts highlight pottery and carved wood, including items like pots, jugs, flowerpots, wooden trays, spoons, baskets, and wooden stirrups.

Some of the most important festivals include the Carnival (March–April), featuring parades, costumes, and music; the San Benito Sinaloa Festival (May), which includes horse races and betting; the Cerro Agudo Mocorito Harvest Celebration (October 3) honoring the peanut harvest; and the Feast of the Immaculate Conception (December 8–15), with serenades, fireworks, dances, and games.
