Santa Ana Chiautempan
2025 National Sarape Fair of Chiautempan
The National Sarape Fair of Chiautempan 2025 is held with great enthusiasm in honor of Our Lady of Saint Anne, to whom each day of the celebration is dedicated.
This festival, celebrated in honor of Saint Anne, the patron saint of the municipality, blends textile tradition, popular culture, gastronomy, sports, and public entertainment.
Chiautempan is recognized as the Cradle of the Mexican Sarape, woven on pedal looms using both wool and modern materials. During the fair, local artisans, along with those from other regions, exhibit and sell sarapes, offering visitors a chance to witness and learn about traditional techniques.
As for Culture and Religiosity, the traditional procession in honor of Saint Anne will take place, accompanied by rondalla music, mariachi, brass bands, and fireworks. In addition, the event includes sports and cultural activities such as tournaments (boxing, soccer) and parades of traditional costumes, all of which bring life to the streets of the town center. These inclusive, family-friendly activities fill the city with joy.
The event is hosted at the Fairgrounds, located at the entrance of Chiautempan, about 10 minutes by car from the state capital. Access and parking are generally well-managed, with security measures in place to ensure a safe and family-oriented environment. As you walk through the fair, you’ll find colorful handicraft exhibits featuring local textile art, as well as amusement rides, popular dances, and children's shows—guaranteeing fun for the whole family.
This fair is not just a commercial exhibition, but a reflection of local pride and community identity. By promoting tourism and highlighting artisanal work, the event strengthens both the economic and cultural fabric of Chiautempan and Tlaxcala.
