Huatulco and Escondido: Football over the Waves

Oaxaca (6 Days / 5 Nights)

Day 1: Say Hi to Huatulco!

Just let us when you're getting here, and we'll pick you up at Huatulco International Airport.

Once you check in, you get the rest of the day to relax and enjoy yourself.

Day 2: See all Nine Bays of Huatulco

Pack your beach bag, and after breakfast you'll be picked up straight from the hotel. Most guests depart between 9 and 9:15 a.m.

The panoramic tour includes all the bays of Huatulco and makes two stops. At Chachacual Bay, you get some of the best snorkeling territory anywhere on earth. Later, you'll stop at the fantastic Maguey Bay for a meal overlooking the sea. Snorkeling equipment ($250 per person), port tax ($5.50 per person), conservation bracelet ($65.00), and food and drink at the restaurant or on the beach all cost a little bit extra.

After all that, you also get an orientation tour in the little town of Santa Maria Huatulco and an idea where everything is: the church, artisan areas and the best places for eating and drinking.

Day 3: Copalitilla Waterfalls

With lots of morning time for breakfast, most guests choose to get picked up between 8:30 and 9 a.m. Shortly after, you'll be which to the magical Copalitilla, with crystal clear waters and a fantastic natural setting to explore. A quick stop lets you learn about traditional medicine and savor handmade tortillas with some of the best Southern Oaxaca cooking.

The tour continues to one of the area's most beloved waterfalls where guests can get up close and even swim in the pool below. This is followed by a traditional Oaxaca-style meal on the grounds of a former coffee plantation. The tour does not include a fee charged by the community of $330 pesos per person to cover the food and entrance fees.

Day 4: The entire Oaxaca coast bound for Puerto Escondido

To take in most of the coast of Oaxaca, we'll set of at about 10 a.m. Along the way we'll stop at Puerto Ángel, and then at famous Zipolite, and one more time at MazunteGroups usually end up taking in the sunset at Punta Cometa. We get to Escondido a little late but after a fun filled day like this, getting to the hotel is as magical as you can imagine.

Day 5: Liberación and Bio-luminescence

Take most of the day for yourself. There's plenty of room for rest and relaxation. We'll meet up again 6 p.m. to help some turtle hatchlings get to the sea even as the sun is starting to go down. It's a magnificent and otherworldly experience.

But then you'll want to see the bioluminescence of the sea as millions (billions?) of microorganisms burst into light at their first touch of the sea. The Manialtepec lagoon comes to life and lights up in a spectacle like none you've ever seen. Guests take to special boats that head into the lagoon just to bear witness and a night swim is not entirely out of the question.

Day 6: One final morning in Escondido

Day six is a fantastic time to re-live your favorite memories. Check out is at 1 p.m. and that leaves the entire morning for some last minute hi-jinx and a big breakfast. It's a wonderful place to wake up.
