The initiative, “Colima Birding”, has been active from 2022 to 2025 in the state of Colima, reaching six destinations, with a social, environmental, and economic approach.

This initiative promotes environmentally responsible tourism, awareness, and education about the more than 470 bird species found in Colima through the creation of six birdwatching routes that strengthen the tourism offering and valu​e chain. It also includes the organization of awareness and knowledge-sharing events focused on bird conservation, as well as the empowerment of women as specialized birdwatching guides and the involvement of local communities in monitoring activities. This monitoring allows for the evaluation of bird behavior year after year, helping to identify potential changes that may require attention.

Main impacts and results of this initiative:

• Monthly creation of digital awareness content, reaching 1,245,525 views between 2023 and 2024.

• 792 participants in tours and conferences between 2022 and 2024.

• 5 guides benefited from 23 hours of training for credential renewal.

• Creation of 6 birdwatching routes between 2022 and 2025.
