Environmental Sustainability
The initiative “Courses on Environment, Biodiversity, Protected Areas, and Sustainability” has been active during the period 2024–2025 in the state of Zacatecas, in the municipalities of Zacatecas, Guadalupe, Sombrerete, and Sierra de Órganos, and has an environmental focus.
This initiative consists of the implementation of training courses on biodiversity, protection of natural areas, ecological, social, and economic impacts of tourism, low-impact sustainable practices, environmental impact, and climate change. These courses are aimed at public officials and tourism service providers. Its objective is to strengthen capacities and knowledge to promote responsible and sustainable practices across different municipalities, adapting content according to local challenges and the specific focus of each course.
The relevance of the initiative lies in the need to raise awareness about the preservation of natural resources and tourism sustainability, especially in municipalities with a tourism vocation, Pueblos Mágicos, and rural areas. Through these actions, the initiative seeks to generate replicable capacities across the state, promoting environmental conservation and strengthening responsible tourism development, positioning Zacatecas as an example of integrated management between tourism and the environment.
Main impacts and results of this initiative:
• Training of 50 public officials and tourism service providers in sustainable tourism.
• Delivery of a course at Sierra de Órganos National Park, with the participation of 50 public officials and service provider
