Social, Accessible, and Inclusive Tourism in Coahuila

Cultural Sustainability

The initiative “Social, Accessible, and Inclusive Tourism in Coahuila” has been active during the period 2019–2025 in the state of Coahuila de Zaragoza, reaching 16 municipalities, with a social focus.

Its purpose is to create inclusive experiences that promote equity, as well as a model of awareness and training for inclusive service through Braille literacy for personnel in both the public and private tourism sectors.

Braille menus and scripts, as well as accessible signage in tourism spaces, have also been implemented. In 2025, this policy expanded its scope to include accessible signage and museographic content in tourism spaces. These achievements have been made possible through the creation of partnerships that bring together the public, private, and social sectors.

Main impacts and results of this initiative during the period:

• From 2022 to 2023, more than 685 Braille menus were distributed across over 500 establishments in 16 municipalities of the state, including 4 of the 8 Pueblos Mágicos.

• More than 1,700 people with visual impairments have benefited, and over 6,000 service providers and visitors have been indirectly sensitized.

• From 2022 to 2024, 4 awareness workshops were conducted for the tourism sector, promoting inclusive service and capacity-building in Braille literacy.
