San Crisanto

Some of Yucatan's most expressly devotional coastal paradise, stay and you'll be surprised at the little details you'll start to notice, with every day a surprise more precious than that before.

San Crisanto

San Crisanto is a heart breakingly beautiful little beach town on the north coast of Yucatan. It's roughly between Telchac Puerto to the west, and Dzilam de Bravo to the east. But of course, people visit because it is light years away from everything we know and while life here can seem basic, it's also really easy to focus on the absolutely essential.

People come to stroll the white sand streets, and the endless beach. Most of the cabins are eco-friendly and people running local tours into the endless mangroves will remind you of the importance of maintaining a balance. The bird watching is unrivaled anywhere, with flamingos only the most notorious of feathered arrivals. The crocodiles welcome them back every year too. It's a place of tranquil learning, unwinding, and utter relaxation.

Historically a fishing town, today most locals devote themselves just to visitors like you, and there is a lot to be shown and enjoyed. San Crisanto is part of the inland municipality of Sinanché. The little town and local seat of government is about 15 minutes inland and for anything beyond the essentials, you'll want to stop there. The surrounding country is replete with the old henequin haciendas that used to form the basis of the economy. Today, they are stone ruins in among some other, even older stone ruins. The most impressive are those near Xtampu some 30-minutes drive to the west. But then, there is no hurry to get there.

The coastal road, Yuc-27 seems laid out for slow insightful drives and enjoying yourself all the while. It's beautiful country and a visit will remind you why you came.

San Crisanto is some one hour, 20 minutes drive from Mérida. Autobuses Noreste Yucatán makes the trip multiple times daily, and even the bus travels the long coastal route 27. On the bus, the trip can take about two hours, but then, it is highly scenic route. Enjoy it.
