The municipality of Real de Asientos was incorporated into the Magical Towns program on October 30, 2006.

Mining began in 1647. From this moment on, Asientos experienced significant economic and demographic progress, which was further reinforced by the arrival of Agustín Mejía, a mestizo miner from San Luis Potosí. In 1706, he confirmed the region\\\'s mining potential. This economic activity helped develop the municipality, as it achieved agricultural development.

Furthermore, factories were founded that produced fabrics, sheets, and blankets. In 1713, Asientos was established as a town, and in February 1916, under the Organic Law for the Territorial Division and Internal Regime of the State of Aguascalientes, Asientos was declared a free municipality.

Real de Asientos boasts all kinds of attractions, such as the natural beauty of the Escondido de Asientos Aqueduct. Cultural attractions include the Larrañaga House, the former Convent of the Lord of Tepozán, the 17th-century Franciscan Monastery, the Mining and Cactus Museum, the Parish of Our Lady of Bethlehem, the Shrine of Guadalupe, and the El Piojito Train.

The local cuisine is characterized by the following dishes: roasted bride, nine-wine hen, birria quesadillas, chili memelas, huitlacoche gorditas, Chichimeca-style rabbit, guava and milk sweets, guava atole, and red tuna water.

Its most famous festivals are the Feast of Our Lady of Bethlehem, the Feast of the Lord of Tepozán, Miner\\\'s Day, and the Feast of Saint Francis of Assisi.
