San Blas

San Blas, designated a Pueblo Mágico in Nayarit since June 2023, is an ideal beach destination for those seeking peace and nature. With its diverse birdlife and stunning landscapes, it is famous for having the longest wave in the world and 40 kilometers of untouched beaches.

Highlights include visits to the Islas Marías, the Fort of La Contaduría, the San Blas Pier, La Tovara, El Borrego Beach, Matachén Bay, Los Esteros del Pozo, Isabel Island, as well as whale watching and turtle releases.

Festivities include January 31st, in honor of José María Mercado; February 3rd, featuring a boat procession in honor of the Patron Saint; and June 1st, Navy Day, which includes a tribute to fallen sailors and a fishing tournament. Its gastronomy features pescado zarandeado (grilled fish), smoked marlin, seafood, and tejuino, while banana bread is its signature dessert.

When it comes to handicrafts, San Blas is known for leather goods, huaraches (traditional sandals), bags, hats, and artisan pieces made by the Huichol community, such as decorated gourds, jewelry, and rag dolls.
