Ahuacatlán, Nayarit, was incorporated into the Pueblos Mágicos program on June 26, 2023.
Founded by the Nahoa tribe, it was an important point of passage and exchange between various ethnic communities before the arrival of the Spanish. Among its main attractions are the House of Culture, the Temple of Saint Francis of Assisi, and natural water parks such as Tinajas and Acatique.
Its gastronomy features standout dishes like goat and pork birria, along with traditional sweets and sugarcane juice.
Local handicrafts include clay pottery, leatherwork, and woven palm items.
The most important celebrations are those dedicated to the region’s patron saints.
