Minatitlán is a city in the south of Veracruz, its name is full of history: it comes from "Mina", in honor of the military insurgent Francisco Xavier Mina, and "Tlan", which means place; although there are also those who translate it as "arrower".

Founded in 1826 by Tadeo Ortiz, this municipality combines more than 190 years of history and the strength of modernity.

Recognized for hosting the Refinería General Lázaro Cárdenas del Río, the first and largest in Mexico and Latin America until 2004.

Minatitlán is one of the ten most important cities in the state thanks to its role in the oil and energy industry. However, its wealth is not only industrial, as it is surrounded by natural and cultural attractions that give it a special tourist value.

The tour begins in the Parque Central Independencia, a meeting point surrounded by the picturesque Catedral de San Pedro Apóstol, while the boardwalk offers a beautiful panoramic view of the Coatzacoalcos River.

The local gastronomy has a prominent space in the Mercado Hidalgo, where visitors can enjoy authentic flavors such as the traditional cochinita pibil tacos.

Among its natural treasures is the manantial El Chorrito, in addition to family recreation spaces such as theParque Acuático El Manatí and the Jurassic Mina.theme park.

A millennial legacy remains hidden under its vegetation: the Lomas de Tacojalpan, an archaeological site more than a thousand years old linked to the cultura olmeca, also known as the snake-jaguar city.

Very close is the Cascada de Soteapan, just over an hour away, captivates with one of the highest waterfalls in the southern region of Veracruz.

In addition, Minatitlán is part of the Ruta Olmeca, which connects it with a tourist corridor of great historical and cultural relevance.
