Nanchital de Lázaro Cárdenas del Río

In the heart of southern Veracruz, Nanchital de Lázaro Cárdenas del Río flourishes between history, culture and development.

Its name comes from the nanche or nance tree, a golden fruit that grows in abundance in the region and that inspired its identity since 1884, when Mr. Ambrosio Solorza, then municipal president of Coatzacoalcos, gave this name to the ranch that would eventually become the current city.

At the beginning of the 20th century, Nanchital became one of the key points of the oil boom in Mexico.

In 1904, the English company S. Pearson and Sons LTD began drilling wells such as San Cristóbal, Potrerillos and Filisola, marking the beginning of a new economic era for the region.

Due to its historical and social relevance, Nanchital rose in rank over time: first congregation (1938), then village (1980), until reaching the title of city in 1984 and finally, in 1988, erected as a free municipality, in honor of President Lázaro Cárdenas del Río, symbol of Mexican energy sovereignty.
