This Franciscan Mission is dedicated to San Miguel Arcángel and is distinguished by the marked indigenous features of the faces and animals that appear in its mestizo baroque façade. Its construction began in 1754 and it was the first to be completed, due to the fact that it is the smallest in the Sierra Gorda.
The Jardín botánico Regional de Cadereyta (Cadereyta Regional Botanical Garden) is a scientific and educational institution located in Cadereyta de Montes, Querétaro. Founded on April 25, 1991, it is part of the Council of Science and Technology of the State of Queretaro (CONCYTEQ) and is dedicated to the study, conservation and use of Mexican flora, especially that of the Queretaro-Hidalguense semi-desert. The Botanical Garden is recognized for its work in the artificial reproduction of endangered species and for being one of the 20 most important botanical gardens in Mexico. It also offers free guided tours 365 days a year.
The Misión de Jalpan (Jalpan Mission), also known as Mission Santiago de Jalpan, is an important religious and cultural center located in the Magical Town of Jalpan de Serra, built between 1751 and 1758 under the supervision of San Junipero Serra, is dedicated to the apostle Santiago. It is the first of the five Franciscan Missions of the Sierra Gorda de Querétaro and was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2003.
