2 days 1 night. Historic center of Puebla, Cholula or Atlixco
Pick-up from the Puebla Bus Station or your hotel.
Transfer to Puebla’s historic city center for visits to the Palafoxiana Library, the Immaculate Conception cathedral, the area around the Zócalo and the 3-D diorama of Puebla.
The tour continues to the Chapel of the Rosary, one of the Eight Wonders of the New World. Participants will then stroll the Calle de los Dulces for a tasting of traditional sweets and liqueurs. From there the tour continues to the Artist’s Quarter (Barrio del Artista) and the El Parián Artisan Market. Then take off for the Callejón de los Sapos, the famous Alley of the Toads, and the Xanenetla tunnels.
The day finishes with a tour of the Cinco de Mayo battle forts and concludes at the entrance to your hotel.
Just on the southwestern outskirts of Puebla,Cholulais a town famous for hosting the world's biggest pyramid. A trip there can be done in 4–5 Hours. Guests are taken right to the archaeological zone for about two hours to explore the museum, the ancient courtyard, and the Church of Los Remedios at the very top of the pyramid. From there, guests will visit the Santa María Tonantzintla Church for some 30 minutes. The church is famous for literally bristling with decorations in practically every square centimeter.
From there we'll sample rompope and liqueurs on a 20-minute visit to the famous Casa Talavera. The local pottery is exquisite and famous all over the world. One more church is that of San Francisco Acatepec. We'll stay there for about 30 minutes to admire the fantastic Baroque and the famously Talavera-tiled façade.
Either option will finish up with a trip back to your hotel or preferred place of arrival in Puebla.
Another worthy option is the famous flower town of Atlixco. Just a little further afield, one can get a good sense of the town in about six hours. The tour begins at the Megaviveros. It's a giant nursery of flowers, plants, and fruit trees. From there, we'll hit the Historic Center, the Zócalo, the church of Santa María de la Natividad, and the municipal palace with its fantastic mural paintings.
AtLa Pasadita,you'll enjoy artisan bread, chocolate, the local Atlixco mezcal, and your choice from the Ximitl Ice Cream Shop. A visit to the former Franciscan convent precedes a final stop at the fantastic Amatzcalli trout farm in Atlimeyaya. The farm feels like a big water park but most of the water is reserved for the fish.
