Historic center of Puebla, Zacatlán and Chignahuapan or Ex-Hacienda de Chautla, lavender fields and Val'Quirico, Cholula or Atlixco (3 days, 2 nights)

Day 1: City tour Puebla

Day 1 Itinerary

Duration: 4–5 hours

  • Pick-up at Puebla bus station or designated meeting point.

  • Transfer to Puebla’s historic center.

  • Visit to the Palafoxian Library.

  • Visit to the Cathedral, known as the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception.

  • Visit to the main square (zócalo) and explanation of the Puebla city model.

  • Visit to the Chapel of the Rosary, considered the "Eighth Wonder of the New World."

  • Walk along Calle de los Dulces (Sweet Street) with a tasting of traditional candies and liqueurs.

  • Stroll through the Barrio del Artista (Artist's Neighborhood).

  • Visit to El Parián Handicrafts Market.

  • Visit to the Callejón de los Sapos (Alley of the Frogs).

  • Tour through the Xanenetla Tunnels.

  • Panoramic tour of the forts where the Battle of May 5th took place.

  • End of the tour.

  • Drop-off at your hotel.

Day 2: Options: Zacatlán and Chignahuapan / Ex-Hacienda de Chautla / Lavender Fields and Val’Quirico

Option: Zacatlán and Chignahuapan

Duration: 12 hours

  • Pick-up at your hotel and transfer to the Pueblo Mágico (Magical Town) of Zacatlán. Approximate travel time: 2.5 hours.

  • Arrival in downtown Zacatlán and visit to:

    • Glass viewpoint overlooking the Barranca de los Jilgueros (Goldfinch Canyon)

    • Vitromurals (glass murals)

    • "El Centenario" Clock Factory, the first monumental clock factory in Latin America

    • Zacatlán’s main square (zócalo), where you’ll enjoy tastings of ciders, wines, and liqueurs

    • Traditional bakery for a tasting of Zacatlán-style bread

    • The Franciscan Ex-Convent

  • Transfer from Zacatlán to the Quetzalapan Waterfall (approx. 30-minute drive).

  • Transfer to Chignahuapan (approx. 30-minute drive). In this Pueblo Mágico, you’ll visit:

    • Christmas ornament factory

    • Chignahuapan town center

    • Mudejar-style kiosk and the Church of the Immaculate Conception

  • End of the tour and return transfer to your hotel.

  • Drop-off at your hotel.


Option: Ex-Hacienda de Chautla, Lavender Fields, and Val’Quirico

Duration: 8 hours

  • Pick-up at your hotel.

  • Visit to the Ex-Hacienda de Chautla, located approximately 35 minutes from Puebla city. This stunning English-style castle sits in the middle of a lake. You'll explore the springs and enjoy the natural surroundings.

  • Visit to Rancho San Martín:

    • Learn all about lavender and how its essential oils are produced

    • Make your own lavender soap

    • Tour the lavender fields

    • Enjoy a delicious lavender pound cake and lavender coffee tasting

  • Visit to Val’Quirico, a replica of a 17th-century Italian village.

  • End of the tour.

  • Drop-off at your hotel.

Day 3: Cholula /Atlixco

Day 3 Itinerary

Option A: Zacatlán and Chignahuapan

Duration: 4-5 hours

  • Pick up at your hotel and transfer to the archaeological site.
  • Two-hour visit to the Archaeological Zone: We will tour the museum, the courtyard of altars, and the Church of Los Remedios at the top of the pyramid.
    Church of Santa María Tonantzintla: 30-minute visit to the Church of Santa María Tonantzintla.
  • Eggnog and Liqueur Tasting: 20-minute visit to Casa Talavera, where you will taste the famous rompope of Cholula, along with the renowned herbal liqueur, among others, and admire the famous Talavera pottery from Puebla.
  • 30-minute visit to the Church of San Francisco Acatepec, a religious monument characteristic of Mexican Baroque architecture, especially recognized for its Talavera mosaic façade combined with red brick.
  • End of tour.
  • Transfer to the Puebla bus station or Paseo Destino.
  • Drop-off at the Puebla bus station.

Option B: Atlixco

Duration: 4-5 hours

  • ​Pick up at your hotel and transfer to Atlixco.
  • Visit Megaviveros, where you can find a wide variety of flowers, plants, and fruit trees.
  • In the historic center of Atlixco, we will visit: the main square (zócalo), the Parish of Santa María de la Natividad, and the municipal palace for an explanation of the Atlixco murals.
  • Afterward, we will go to "La Pasadita" for a tasting of artisanal bread, chocolate, Atlixco mezcal, and a delicious artisanal ice cream of your choice at the "Ximitl" ice cream shop, where you will find exotic flavors.
  • Finally, we will visit the former Franciscan convent.
  • Transfer to Atlimeyaya (approximately 20 minutes).
  • Visit the "Amatzcalli" trout farm. This farm not only raises trout but also provides information about the process involved in this activity. You can also see some of their most impressive specimens in aquarium-style tanks, where thousands of these fish swim. You'll even have the opportunity to feed the trout.
  • End of tour.
  • Return transfer to Puebla.
  • Drop-off at the Puebla bus station or Paseo Destino.
