A Celebration of Chiapas Coffee

Chiapas Coffee Museum

A unique experience in the heart of Tuxtla Gutiérrez
Located in one of the original neighborhoods of Tuxtla Gutiérrez, the Chiapas Coffee Museum is housed in an iconic mansion built in 1913, which was originally the residence of the renowned doctor Rafael Grajales. Today, this historic building hosts a one-of-a-kind museum at the national level, dedicated to one of the state’s most emblematic products: coffee.

More than a museum, a celebration of Chiapas coffee
The Chiapas Coffee Museum was created with the vision of becoming the national reference for coffee cultivation and culture. Its mission is to generate knowledge, awareness, and a sensory and educational experience that strengthens appreciation for Chiapas coffee, promoting responsible consumption and recognition of the producing communities.

Through its three interactive rooms, the museum offers a fascinating journey through the world of coffee:

  • Biology of the coffee plant and its ecosystem: Discover how the coffee plant grows, what kind of climate it needs, and how Chiapas’s biodiversity influences its cultivation. You will also learn about sustainable practices and the rise of organic farming.

  • Transformation process: From harvesting the beans to roasting, grinding, and packaging. Learn each stage of the process that transforms coffee cherries into the beverage we enjoy every day.

  • Marketing and socioeconomic impact: Explore how coffee cultivation has shaped the state’s history and economy. Understand the importance of fair trade and how coffee connects Chiapas with the world.

A museum with a global vision
The Chiapas Coffee Museum aims to establish connections with international networks of coffee and agro-industry museums, creating synergies that enrich visitors’ experiences and strengthen the global presence of Chiapas coffee.
