Ixtlán del Río, Nayarit, was designated a Pueblo Mágico in 2023, known for its historical and archaeological richness, such as the Los Toriles Archaeological Zone and the Temple of Quetzalcóatl. It is famous for its strategic location as the "gateway to Nayarit." Among its attractions are the Anthropology Museum, La Sidra Water Park, and Cerrito de Cristo Rey.

Its cuisine includes goat birria, seafood, and garrafa-style ice cream, while its crafts include blown glass, pottery, and leatherwork.

The most notable festivities are the Regional Fair in September and religious celebrations in honor of the Virgin of Guadalupe.
